Also hikkoubori 筆耕彫. The engravers or blockcarvers of written text woodblocks for printed books. From around the middle of the 18c. this seems to have been a separate trade from the engravers horishi 彫師 of *ukiyo-e 浮世絵 and single-sheet prints, and had its own professional organization.
