|  Also called yatoizane 雇実; yatoizanebari  雇実張 or yatoizanehagi 雇実矧. A plank that is grooved on each side 
and joined to a similar plank by a spline (a long strip of wood that slips into 
a slot created when the boards are laid tightly against each other). The spline 
acts as a false tongue. This technique is not considered to be true joinery and 
is used for verandas and various types of flooring.  |
