Also called itabari tenjou 板張天井 or *hari itatenjou 張板天井. A wooden board ceiling made of simple planks, as distinguished from coffered or latticed ceiling *goutenjou 格天井, *kumiire tenjou 組入天井. Common board ceilings include: a board and batten ceiling *saobuchi tenjou 竿縁天井, a smooth board ceiling, often with dragon painting *kagamitenjou 鏡天井, and an inverted boat-shaped ceiling *funazoko tenjou 舟底天井.
