1　Also mokei 模型. A miniature or a scaled-down model of a planned work of art. It is usually identical in form and proportion to the final work, and is often made to serve as a preparatory model which was then enlarged. Hinagata have been used in Japan since the Asuka period. 2　An abbreviation for *hinagatabon 雛形本.
