himuroike　氷室池

Lit. icehouse pond. A functional type of garden pond used in the winter for cutting ice. In case like the himuroike at Kanshuuji 勧修寺, in Kyoto, the name probably reflects the previous function of the pond since it is not used for ice-cutting today.
