Also hatasode 端袖, hiresode 鰭袖. A
style of sleeve found on Buddhist images. The sleeve of the robe is tied
around the elbow, so that the end of the sleeve opens out in decorative
folds. This sleeve style is found on statues and paintings of Buddhist guardian
figures such as *Bonten 梵天
(Brahma), *juuni shinshou
十二神将 (twelve generals), and *shitennou
四天王 (four
guardian kings). |
