|  Lit. naked or bare yard. A term for the earth-floored 
area *doma 土間 in farmhouses, 
nouka 農家 of the Edo period in Aomori prefecture. In this region a low 
timber platform called *itaniwa 
板庭 is constructed in one part of the doma, and the term hadakaniwa 
is used to denote the remaining unfloored area. |
