horaguchi 洞口

Also horakuchi. An opening on the side wall of an alcove *tokonoma 床間, in a tea ceremony room *chashitsu 茶室. The upper part is in the shape of a curved arch that is completely covered with mud-plaster on the underside. The walls and the area up to the ceiling of the alcove are also covered with mud-plaster. There is no wooden framework. Its appearance resembles the *houdateguchi, 方立口 an entrance with an arched top.
