|  Also written Ξs. A diagonal section of wall 
      forming part of a gateway barrier *umadashi 
      no in a castle. This is a variation of the square gateway barrier *kaku-umadashi pno, with a wall on one side of the gateway *koguchi 
      Υϋ, projecting diagonally, instead of at a right angle. The diagonal wall, 
      usually on the left side when facing outwards from the castle entranceAis 
      called hizumiguruwa. The purpose of this projecting diagonal is 
      to launch arrow or gun attacks into the side of approaching enemy lines. 
      These side attacks are called *yokoya 
      ‘ξ.  |
