hiratokyou 平斗きょう

Also called *hirazonae 平備. A bracket complex *tokyou 斗きょう placed in between the corner bracket complexes *sumisonae 隅備, and the next bracket complex that is parallel to the wall plane. Architectural differences vary according to the style of bracket complexes used. They include: the Japanese style *wayou 和様; the Zen style *zenshuuyou 禅宗様; or the daibutsu style *daibutsuyou 大仏様. Wayou of bracket complexes evolved during the 7-12c, after which the new styles, daibutsuyou and zenshuuyou, were introduced (at the end of the 12c and beginning of the 13c).
