A translucent paper-covered frame attached to a
door jam by a socket hinge hijitsubo 肘壷 or choutsugai 蝶番, which
allows the screen to open like a door. Some have two sections hinged on opposite
sides so that they can open in either direction and close in the center. These
are called *ryoubiraki 両開. If only one
screen opens, the door is called katashouji 片障子. |
