Also
called han-akarishouji 半明障子. A pair of sliding screens with a lattice
frame covered with translucent paper *shouji
障子, filling about half or somewhat over half of the upper part of each screen.
The frame is visible through the paper pasted onto it. The shouji
are about 1m high. The lowest part is filled by an opaque panel *fusuma
襖 is less than 1m in height. However, the proportion of shouji to
fusuma parts can vary slightly with the fusuma sometimes extending
above the halfway point resulting in less shouji area. The pulls
for hanshoujibusuma are fitted into the fusuma part. These
screens are used in covered passageways, watarirouka 渡廊下. |
