hanamarunoko 鼻丸鋸
KEY WORD : architecture / tools

Also known as anahikinoko 穴挽鋸. A round-nose roughing saw. The name is derived from the shape of the top of the blade, which curves downward at the tip. The standard hanamarunoko blade is approximately 45cm long and 10cm wide. This saw, like the leaf-bladed saw, has sharply raked ripsaw teeth known as thorn teeth, ibarame 茨目. They are beveled on the leading edge to augment the cutting quality. This saw is suitable for rough work, such as cutting logs.
