Ginkakuji type. One kind of water basin *chouzubachi
手水鉢, based on the water basin originally at the edge of the veranda of the
*Tougudou 東求堂 at Jishouji 慈照寺 (also
known as Ginkakuji 銀閣寺) in Kyoto. This type of chouzubachi is rectangular
with a lattice pattern, like a priest's surplice, on all four sides. The
shallow waterpool is usually round. Ginkakuji type chouzubachi are
typically small, placed on a stone pedestal, and covered with a wooden roof. |
