The posts
along the outside of the peripheral zone *geya
下屋 created by extending the roof beyond the purlins carried by the main
transverse beams. The geya posts are frequently smaller in cross
section when used in traditional vernacular houses *minka
民家, with thatched roofs. The term is often used in contrast to *jouyabashira
上屋柱, the posts at the interface between the central main frame *jouya
上屋 and the geya. Also called *kawabashira
側柱. |
