gentanryuu teien 玄丹流庭園
KEY WORD : architecture / gardens
Lit.
Gentan lineage garden. A style of late Edo period garden in the Izumo 出雲
district, Shimane prefecture, associated with the landscape designer Sawa Gentan 沢玄丹 (dates unknown).
Like the closely-related *bugakuryuu
teien 武学流庭園, this type of garden attaches special importance to
a large flat stone called the shinpaiseki 神拝石 (see *haiseki 拝石) and thus the garden is thought to incorporate ideas of Shinto. |
