KEY WORD : art hstory / paintings
A type of mounting for hanging scrolls *kakemono 掛物. The *chuuberi 中縁 found in the mikiri mounting *mikiri hyougu 見切表具 is omitted, and the area of the painting or calligraphy, honshi 本紙 is then surrounded by a *souberi 総縁. There are also cases in which the *fuutai 風帯 and/or *ichimonji 一文字 are also omitted. When both are omitted, the circumference of the painting or calligraphy may be surrounded by a thin strip called hosomi ほそみ (細見; also hosogane 細金). This is a thin 1.5 - 2.1 millimeter wide thread of line that is inserted between sections of a mounting in certain cases. At its maximum, the hosomi will be 3 millimeters wide. Various colors are used for hosomi in the fukuro mounting. When the fuutai is omitted, the mounting can also be called maruhyougu 丸表具. A standard fukuro mounting hon fukurohyougu 本袋表具 will omit the fuutai but retain the ichimonji. There are also cases when the mikiri mouting is called fukurohyougu.
