FUSOU MEIKOU GAFU　扶桑名公画譜

Primer on Master Painters of Japan, an early 18c biography of painters by Asai Fukyuu 浅井不旧. Asai, a native of Kyoto, also compiled the now lost Seals of Japanese Painters HONCHOU GAKOU INPU 本朝画工印譜. Dating from the Kyouhou 享保 era (1716-36), FUSOU MEIKOU GAFU includes the earliest biographical information on a number of artists, such as Soutatsu 宗達 (? - 1643?), who were outside the Kanou and Tosa schools *Kanouha 狩野派 and *Tosaha 土佐派. It is published in NIHON GARON TAIKAN 日本画論大観 2 : pp1189-1256, ed. Sakazaki Tan 坂崎坦.
