fumikomidatami　踏込畳

A straw mat *tatami 畳 which is placed adjacent to the door from which the host enters *sadouguchi 茶道口 or *kayoiguchi 通い口, in a tea ceremony room *chashitsu 茶室. This straw mat indicates the direction of the service entrance from which the host will step into the tea ceremony room. The fumikomidatami mat is arranged according to the type of stove, either one built into the floor or one that is portable.
