	  special patterns that indicated the rank of the people using them: the dainagon's 
	  ε[Ύ mat had a purple chrysanthemum and cloud design, kouraimon νδ; 
	  the chunagon [Ύmat had an exquisite border of the kourai 
	  pattern *kouraiberi 
	  ν; the saishou Ι mat had a lovely yellow kourai pattern.
