Also written ‰Ú‚̘ or ‰Ú˜. A type of decorative molding *kurigata ŒJŒ`, used on the sides of a Sung style Buddhist platform *shumidan {–í’d. The molding was imported to Japan as part of the Zen style *zenshuuyou ‘T@—l, in the Kamakura period. The ebi-no-koshi forms a convex section in the narrowest part of the platform, and is decorated with vertical lines carved in openwork *sukashibori “§’¤, or low relief *usunikubori ”–“÷’¤.
