Also ensou kouhai ~υw. A large circular halo *kouhai υw found on Buddhist images, particularly *Kokuuzou Bosatsu σ μF and *Aizen Myouou €υΎ€. On mandalas the ensoukou surrounds the whole figure, while on statues it frames the head and upper body. The ensoukou encloses smaller halos around the head *zukou ͺυ and body *shinkou gυ. Good examples are the Kokuuzou Bosatsu (late 8-early 9c) in Kakuanji zΐ, Nara, and the Aizen Myouou (1673) in Chouunji ·_, Nagano prefecture. | ||||||
