Also sougyari ‘m‰Ύ—œ (Sk; sanghati). A robe worn by Buddhist priests. The largest of the three robes *sanne ŽOˆί traditionally owned by every priest, the daie is made from at least 9 strips of cloth sewn together. It was used for visits and excursions outside the residence, usually to a temple. *Nyorai ”@—ˆ statues are always shown wearing this robe. Sometimes the daie is worn with both shoulders covered *tsuuken ’ΚŒ¨ and sometimes with the right shoulder exposed *hentan uken •ΞεΦ‰EŒ¨.
