chichibu ao-ishi　秩父青石

Lit. Chichibu blue stone. A type of *ao-ishi 青石, blue stone, from along the Arakawa 荒川 in the Chichibu 秩父 area of modern Saitama prefecture The stone was carried by raft to Edo where it was used for gardens, monuments and tombstones.
