atorakkan 後落款

Lit. a later signature. A forged signature put on an unsigned painting or work of calligraphy in order to increase its market value. Actually atorakkan had the opposite effect, decreasing its value as an antique. Professional signature forgers, rakkanya 落款屋, also forged artists' seals. In the antique market, the atorakkan was called the 'plunge', tobikomi 飛込.
