Research Presentations for Fiscal Year 2002
The research presentations of the AISF scholarship recipients for fiscal
year 2002 were held last Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Atsumi Foundation.
The foundation's final activity was successfully concluded thanks to the
participation of the current and next batch of scholarship recipients, the
members of Raccoon-Kai (alumni association), the foundation's directors, and
those who provide assistance for international students in Japan. Mrs.
Itsuko Atsumi, Executive Director, explained the history of the dolls
desplayed in the hall for Doll's Festival (March 3). The presentations were
made splendidly, although the presenters met with some difficulty in trying
to explain, within 15 minutes, their research results in terms
understandable to a child. Some presenters challenged using PowerPoint
(Presentation Software) for the first time, but they all went very well. The
presentations were followed by greetings from AISF Director Dr. Tatsuji
Kataoka, Professor Yoshibumi Hida of the International Christian University,
and Mr. Taichi Sasaoka of the Tsuji Asia International Scholarship
Foundation. The meeting was concluded by an invitation to the Sekiguchi
Global Research Association (SGRA) from Mr. Tadahiro Shimazu, Chief of its
Operation Committee. Participants all enjoyed the glasses of beer, various
dishes of Chinese cuisine, as well as lively conversation. On the request of
Mr. Abliz Yimit, one of the current scholarship recipients, the hat was
passed around for donations to the assistance fund for the victims of the
earthquake disaster that hit the Uighur area in China last month.
