Also written JΕ’. A style of architecture that employs pent roof. A common 13-19c expression for *mokoshi ΦK, a pent roof attached under the eaves *noki ¬, marking the main stories of a pagoda. The space under the pent roof is called yuta-no-ma αΕΜΤ. One such example is found on Yakushiji Toutou ςt (early 8c) in Nara. The pillars holding the outer edges of the pent roof are called yutabashira αΕ, and are erected at the outer boundary of the pent roof space. Many temple halls, for example *hondou {°, *butsuden §a, or gates *sanmon Oε, also have a pent roof. | ||||||
