U-shaped metal pieces nailed to a gate, allowing it to be locked with a sliding timber gate-bar *kannuki èx. A file used to sharpen the blade of a steel saw. Each tooth is filled one by one. The yasuri is similar to a whetstone *to-ishi “uÎ, with increasingly finer tools being used as construction progresses. The first filing is done with a rough-edged file surikomiyasuri –€žèk, and then a fine-toothed file called shiageyasuri Ždãèk is used. To sharpen a blade with top-beveled teeth like the crosscut saw *yokobikinoko ‰¡”Ò‹˜, a special file known as a uwameyasuri ã–Úèk is used.
