wakigegyo　脇懸魚

Lit. Side gable pendant. Also *kudarigegyo 降懸魚 *ketakakushi 桁隠, ketakakushi gegyo 桁隠懸魚, keta eburi-ita 桁惠振板. A decorative gable pendant *gegyo 懸魚 used to conceal and protect the ends of purlins in a gable roof. Wakigegyo appear right and left below the bargeboard; a gable pendant placed at the top centre of the bargeboard covering the ridge piece is known as *omogegyo 本懸魚.
