Utsu-no-yama　宇津の山

KEY WORD :　art history / paintings

A hill on the border between the Abe 安部 and Shida 志太 districts of Suruga 駿河 province (present day Shizuoka prefecture)。 A famous spot on the Eastern Sea Road, Toukaidou 東海道 associated with the moon, ivy and maples. The road was made famous by its inclusion in Episode 9, *Azumakudari 東下り, of ISE MONOGATARI 伊勢物語 (The Tales of Ise).
