Also called *dougudatami “Ή‹οτ, or kyodatami ‹τ. The straw mat tatami τ, upon which the host sits when he prepares tea in a tea ceremony room *chashitsu ’ƒŽΊ. The placement of the host's mat is governed by the proximity to his entrance *sadouguchi ’ƒ“ΉŒϋ. and to the sunken hearth *ro ˜F. Temaedatami is interchangeable with the term dougudatami, meaning a mat on which the host's tea utensils are placed. The use of the word temaedatami or dougudatami is a matter of personal preference. In either case, the temaedatami can be full size or smaller *daimedatami ‘δ–ڏτ.
