1　To interact lines, strings or rails diagonally forming a pattern of diamond shapes. Sometimes another motif is inserted inside the diamond shapes as in triple tasuki miedasuki 三重襷, or there are variations using curved lines, such as fudoutsunagi 分銅繋.

2　Also *hishigoshi 菱格子. Thin wooden strips san 桟, grillwork, faces on a gate or below a window, intersecting diagonally to form diamond shapes, or arranged in a zig-zag pattern. either ornamental or for strengthening. A lattice formed in this way is called *tasukigoshi 襷格子. Found on genji fences *genjibei 源氏塀, *heijuumon 塀重門, cedar doors *sugido 杉戸, and bamboo-joint transoms *take-no-fushi ranma 竹の節欄間.
