Grades of formality in the method of preparing tea, temae 点前. The terms originate in the three styles of calligraphy sho 書 with shin 真 being formal, gyou 行 being semi-formal and sou 草 being informal. Particularly in the formal style this distinction in ceremony is reflected in both the tea house *chashitsu 茶室 and the utensils of the ceremony *chanoyu-no-dougu 茶の湯の道具. | ||||||
