rokujou madenokouji bussho　六条万里小路仏所

A Buddhist sculpture workshop *bussho 仏所, active from the 11-14c and located in Kyoto's Rokujou madenokouji 六条万里小路. It was established by Inchou 院朝 (dates unknown), son of Injo 院助 (?-1106), the founder of the *Inpa 院派 school, as an offshoot of the Inpa workshop *shichijou oomiya bussho 七条大宮仏所. One of the major groups of Kyoto sculptors *kyoto busshi 京都仏師, who flourished in the late Heian period, that received commissions from the Imperial court and nobility. Rokujou madenokouji bussho gradually declined in the Kamakura period along with other Kyoto based Inpa and *Enpa 円派 workshops, because the Kamakura government favored the Nara based *Keiha 慶派 school.
