Korean: Koguryo. One of the three states in the Three Kingdoms
period, Sangoku jidai 三国時代 of Korean history. The era began in about 300 with
Koukuri in the north of the peninsular annexing the Han-Chinese province
of Lelang and ended in the unification of Korea in 668. The period is characterized
by a fusion of Chinese Confucianism, Buddhism and the native traditions of Korea,
all of which spread eventually into Japan and contributed to the sinisation of
Japanese culture. |
