Also written 広庇, 弘廂. Sometimes called *hiro-en 広縁. An extended area beyond the central core *moya 母屋 of a shinden style *shinden-zukuri 寝殿造 building. An area beneath the elongated eaves, made with a slatted floor *sunoko 簀子, a step lower than the floors of the moya and *hisashi 廂.
