hanegimakura　桔木枕

Lit. a cantilever pillow. A transverse beam supported by the eave purlin *dashigeta 出桁, which serves as a fulcrum for the cantilever in a hidden roof structure called noyane kouzou 野屋根構造 (see *noyane 野屋根). The hanegimakura also strengthens the whole structure. Note that not all hidden roofs have cantilevers and cantilever pillows.
