The grouping of two or three parallel rafters closely together with a wide space between each group. The spaces between square rafters is equal to the width of one rafter. Usually, the space between a pair of rafters in equal to double the space between the two rafters forming a pair. If there rafters form a group alternating with a pair of rafters, the space between group of three and a pair is about equal to the width of pair of rafters.
