Also chuudai-no-son 中台の尊. The principal statue in a group of Buddhist statues. The central image in a triad or group. The other attendant figures are known as *kyouji 脇侍. Examples of a chuuson are *Amida 阿弥陀 in *Amida sanzon 阿弥陀三尊 (an Amida triad), *Dainichi 大日 in a mikkyou gobutsu 密教五仏 (a group of five deities presented in Esoteric Buddhism), *Fudou Myouou 不動明王 in a *godai myouou 五大明王 (five great myouou) group, and so on.
