|  Lit. a plover bargeboard. Also written éû”j•—, lit. a 
trianglular shape. A dormer gable or a dormer bargeboard, or both combined. A 
dormer bargeboard found on triangular shaped dormers added directly to the slope 
of a gabled roof surface. They are characterized by strong concave curves. Such 
dormers have neither windows nor any ventilating capacity, but serve only a decorative 
purpose.  *Aori hafu á“D”j•— is an almost obsolete term for chidori hafu. Another term, suehafu ˜”j•— meaning an installed or especially positioned dormer bargeboard is sometimes used. Chidori hafu are also found on castle towers *tenshukaku “VŽçŠt and castle turrets *yagura ˜E. Example: Kibitsu Jinja *Honden ‹g”õ’Ã_ŽÐ–{“a (1425), Okayama prefecture.  |
