A noh mask *noumen ”\–Κ of the basic emaciated *yaseotoko ‘‰’j type with features similar to *kawazu Š^. Used only rarely, as a replacement for kawazu or yaseotoko in plays such as AKOGI ˆ’‘†, it portrays the suffering ghost of a man who has drowned, hence the name awaotoko, which iterally means man of the sea-foam.
